Every farm has a horse or two that have a story as to why they are there...here are our two.
Meggy was the first pony that Kathy ever owned. After a tough fall as a young teenager, I was reluctant to ride again. Meggy came to the farm where I hung out and slowly gained my trust and respect. I had been told that she was a Morgan-Welsh cross. I purchased her for myself when I turned 17. When I headed to college I had to sell her (as often happens) and I lost track of her a short time later. 11 years and a lot of wondering where she ended up a stroke of luck hit and a young lady called in reference to an ad that I had placed in a tack shop looking for her! I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to purchase her back a couple of years ago and now she is the ultimate teacher and babysitter for my kids. Pictured below with my 6 year old son Matthew on his first solo group ride through the state land trails near my home. Meggy is now about 32 and going strong!!!
Copper is a registered American Miniature Horse. He is about the most bomb proof driving animal that I have ever worked around. He is always willing to go the extra mile (or 5!) and is great for our kids to drive. We purchased him right after Matt was born and have never looked back. We have used him in the Caravan for Cancer here in our town, and to just go and visit friends and family that are nearby. As is typical for a mini-his favorite thing to do is eat!
